ROCHELLE — Rochelle City Council members gave the go-ahead to the city manager to sign an engineering agreement with Hanson Professional Services that will allow for work on the construction of a partial parallel taxiway at the Rochelle Municipal Airport.
According to airport manager Mark Delhotal, this is the first phase in the expansion project the city hopes to complete at the facility.
Hanson Professional Services has submitted an agreement with city officials to provide the preliminary assessment and schematic design, design phase services and planning and special services required for the Partial Parallel Taxiway Project at a “not to exceed” cost of $64,030.35.
The services are included in the overall project cost of $700,000. Council’s approval Monday night of the Hanson agreement at will facilitate an IDOT bid letting in June with construction to follow during the 2013 construction season. In addition, the city’s 10 percent ($70,000) will need to be included in the 2013-14 Capital Improvement Budget.
