ROCHELLE — From the Heart event chairman Dave Eckhardt had set a lofty goal for this year’s fundraiser, and not only did participants hit the goal but they blew it out of the water.

In its first five years the Rochelle Rotary sponsored dinner-auction netted an average of $30,000 per year, but after making some changes Eckhardt and the rest of the committee raised the bar to $40,000 to be split evenly between four local non-profit agencies. The actual amount of money raised this past Saturday night not only exceeded the new goal but nearly hit $50,000.

“We had a tremendous response and it looks like we have raised $48,000 for the four groups this year,” Eckhardt said. “We had hoped to hit $40,000 but this is just outstanding. It means $12,000 for each of the four recipients.”
