Lieutenants to take over in Rochelle fire chief’s absence

ROCHELLE — According to Rochelle City Manager David Plyman, the shift lieutenants will handle the responsibilities of Rochelle Fire Chief Brian Johnson in his absence.

Johnson suffered a medical problem last week, leaving him unable to work for an unknown amount of time.

“The on-duty fire lieutenants have command of our department while on their respective shifts. I will be meeting with them Tuesday morning to discuss the status of the department,” Plyman said. “I am uncertain when Chief Johnson will be able to return to duty, but I understand he is recovering.”
