OSWEGO — The Rochelle eighth grade Junior Hubs traveling basketball team went 2-0 this past week to go 6-1 overall as well as in their conference.
On Wednesday, the eighth-graders overcame a 16-10 deficit in second quarter, out-scoring the Panthers 44-20 to post the 54-36 victory.
Rochelle’s defense played a large part in victory. Hunter Haggestad, Matt Albers and Andrew Torres worked as a unit to hold the Panthers’ top scorer to 14 points. Jake Wyatt added two rebounds.
Offensively the Junior Hubs had a balanced attack with 10 players scoring two points. Cal Gould led the way with 15 points, Albers scored 10 points and Sam Christensen contributed with six points. Landon Griffith scored five points, Haggestad, Kaywan Palmer and Dante Contreras had four points each and Steve Eychaner, Nolan Turner and Torres each added a bucket.
