STREATOR — For only the second time this season, the Hubs picked up back-to-back wins with a big 65-46 victory in Streator over the Bulldogs on Saturday night.
“It was a big weekend for us getting two wins,” Rochelle head coach Tim Thompson said after Saturday night’s win. “We have been struggling all year to get wins, and we have lost a lot of close games. It’s nice to start playing with leads, and now that we are getting leads, maintaining and holding them.”
Rochelle (8-15) started attacking from the opening tip and within seconds took the lead on a steal by senior guard Luke Manning who turned his made layup into a three-point play after being fouled from behind.
The Hubs’ Matt Rosenwinkel then hit his first of eight three-pointers on the night in the final minute of the first quarter to spark Rochelle. However, Streator recovered and managed to pull even with Rochelle as the scored ended 9-9 at the end of one period.
