Hubs finish third at fresh-soph tourney

ROCHELLE — Rochelle’s frosh-soph Hubs had a good day in front of a home crowd, finishing third overall at the NIB-12 Conference Wrestling Tournament on Saturday with 112.5 team points.

Justin Richmond (145 pounds) and Darryl Williams (195 pounds) led the Hubs with first place victories, both going undefeated on the day.

Alex Smith (220 pounds) and Tyler Jennings (126 pounds) finished second, while Wes Meadows (138 pounds) finished in third place. Julian Hernandez (113 pounds), Brad Hensley (182 pounds) and James Davis (285 pounds) each finished in fourth place.

“The season ended on Saturday for a lot of these kids,” Rochelle head coach Rich Harvey said. “They should be proud of what they did this season, and even more proud of how they ended it.”
