ROCHELLE — Attorney John McGovern, of Recreation Accessibility Consultants in Hoffman Estates, spoke to Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District officials on Monday night about the Handicapped Accessibility Act and the district’s plans to meet the requirements.
McGovern said his organization does a full review of all district parks, buildings and facilities and makes recommendations for making them compliant with current accessibility standards where need be.
“This isn’t about doing it because you have to, but it’s because you should want to be able to provide services to all residents,” McGovern said. “This is a process. You don’t have to do everything all at once. You just want to be moving in the right direction.”
MGovern said he would bring in teams of two to inspect all the facilities and provide a detailed report.
