ROCHELLE — After the state’s overspending streak, the party is over and the date to pay is approaching. Cuts will be made statewide and the school system will also have to follow suit.

In order to get a bearing on the “financial storm,” Rochelle Township High School board members invited a guest speaker to present on the state’s financial status and how RTHS can be protected in the trying years to come.

Linda Matkowski, EVP of City Securities Corporation, has worked for PMA, Raymond James, City Securities and RTHS for years doing consulting work and providing financial direction. She also has years of experience in working with the state board.

With her knowledge and information, Matkowski presented the most recent financial facts on the state’s dwindling financial reserves, RTHS’s inevitable competition for resources with other schools, pensions and future operational costs.
