ROCHELLE — The Parents Resource Network , a committee of parents who act as a resource for all Rochelle Township High School parents as well as being a liaison for parents with the administration and Board of Education, wants to remind parents of college-bound high school seniors that filing for financial aid should be one of their top priorities as winter draws to a close.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is now available. The FAFSA is the first step in the financial aid process. To properly file a FAFSA, both the student and his/her parents or guardians need to have the 2012 income tax forms completed because the FAFSA requires information from the tax forms to be filled out properly and accurately.
The FAFSA is used by the federal government to determine a student’s eligibility for all forms of financial aid, including scholarships, grants, and student loans. The FAFSA is also the first step in applying and qualifying for scholarships and grants at the state level, as well as often being required or recommended for certain private scholarships that have a need-based component.
