Community donates $2,000 to homeless shelter

ROCHELLE — On Tuesday morning, representatives from the City of Rochelle handed donations to Pete and Gloria Pasqua from proceeds of the 2012 Christmas Tree Festival. The festival raised more than $2,000 for the local homeless shelter.

According to City of Rochelle Marketing Manager, Jenny Thompson, locals dropped off donations even after the tree festival came to a close. Thompson also mentioned that Mark Pearson, a Rochelle Middle School seventh grade student, donated $93 to the homeless shelter at the Christmas tree festival.
