ROCHELLE — City officials in Rochelle approved several proposals involving future industries in the “Hub City” on Monday night.

Council members first voted on the Lee County Enterprise Zone proposal. This proposal will extend the zone by 92 acres. Officials have been referring to the project as “Golden Prairie” and it is expected to be a 350,000 square foot manufacturing facility with parts to be used by the Nippon Sharyo facility for production of rail cars.

On Dec. 23, 1986 the City of Dixon and County of Lee entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement to provide for the administration of an enterprise zone encompassing contiguous portions of the City of Dixon and County of Lee. The agreement was subsequently amended to include the City of Amboy, Village of Ashton, Village of Franklin Grove, Village of Paw Paw, City of Rochelle and Ogle County.
