ROCHELLE — Robbie Del Buck, 50, passed away early Sunday morning, Jan. 13, 2013 at his home in Rochelle.

Rob was born Dec. 19, 1962 to Delbert and Marlene Buck.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley (Hopwood); daughters, Kristen (engaged to Mike Worley) and Kathryn and son Matthew; his mother, Marlene (Dallas) Schuler; sister, Renee (Greg Lower); brothers, Rick (Elizabeth) and Randy Buck; father-in-law and mother-in law, Richard and Lois Hopwood; brother-in-law, Mike Hopwood; nieces and nephews, Mark and Megan Hopwood, Greg (Melissa) and Josh Lower, Nicholas, Jessica, and Sarah Buck, a great-niece, Kiara Sanchez; and great-nephew, Jake Lower.

Rob was a loving husband and father and cherished the time he spent with his family. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Lee.

He was a graduate of Rochelle Township High School, Kishwaukee Community College, the Houston Police Academy and Judson College.

It was Rob’s dream to be a police officer and he devoted his life to serving his community. His career included serving on the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department, Houston Police Department, volunteer fireman for the Rochelle Fire Department, and Rochelle Police Department retiring as Chief of Police.

Rob was active in HOPE, the 911 Board and the Rochelle Township High School Athletic Boosters Club, which he served as president.

Rob was famous for his chili, his adaptation of his father’s recipe. Rob was also the “mister fix it” of the family. He was always willing to lend out a helping hand and he will surely be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle with the graveside service to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the family to provide for the children’s education.
