MALTA — The Adult Education and Transition Programs division of Kishwaukee College is offering free GED preparation classes and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at various times during Spring 2013 in Rochelle. GED classes offer students an opportunity to prepare for the GED or high school equivalency exam. There are also GED classes conducted in Spanish being offered. The ESL classes help adults with limited English proficiency learn the basics of speaking, listening, reading, and writing with practical applications to daily life. All classes are offered free of charge to participants.
GED classes that are taught in English meet at Rochelle United Methodist Church, 709 4th Avenue (use the Hicks Hall entrance), in Rochelle, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning on Jan. 15,from 5:30 - 8:10 p.m. With sufficient enrollment by January 28, childcare will be provided by the Family Literacy Program for children from birth through age 10 while their parents are in class. This class has open enrollment which means students can join the class at any time during the semester.
