KINGS — Charles A. Bigelow, Sr., 84, of Kings, died at his home on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013. He was born and raised in Lamont, Iowa, on Dec. 17, 1928 the son of Charles E. and Verneal Henry Bigelow.
He married Marjorie I. Meader on June 4, 1955 in Rochelle and lived in Kings; she preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 1990. He was also preceded by two brothers, Richard and Alfred.
Prior to retiring, Charles worked for Burren Transfer in Elgin retiring in 1990 and he also worked for Rader & Speed Trucking, and R.L Speed Trucking.
He is survived by his children, Barbara (David) Kinn of Rochelle, Charles (Laurie) Bigelow Jr. of Lindenwood, Larry (Viki) Bigelow of Avondale, Ariz., and George (Kristin) Bigelow of Kings; 10 grandchildren; one stepgrandson; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Orville (Rachael) Bigelow of Corona, Calif.; sisters, Edith Boll and Rosiland Brown; sister-in-law, Sheri Bigelow of Hazleton, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Greg Hoffmann officiating at White Rock Cemetery, Kings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
