Roe sworn in as judge

OREGON — Former Ogle County State’s Attorney John B. “Ben” Roe was sworn in on Monday, Jan. 7 as Resident Circuit Judge of the 15th Judicial Circuit by Circuit Chief Judge Val Gunnarsson.

Roe took over for retired Judge Michael Mallon. Mallon retired on Dec. 4, leaving the last two years of his six-year term open. The Illinois Supreme Court met on Nov. 8 to appoint Roe to fill Mallon’s vacancy. According to the order, Roe will reside as Resident Circuit Judge of Ogle County, 15th Judicial Circuit, until Dec. 1, 2014.

“I am very humbled and honored that the Supreme Court had faith in me,” Roe said. “I’m looking forward to serving the people of Ogle County as circuit judge. I recognize the responsibilities of a circuit judge and will fulfill them to the best of my ability.”
