MENDOTA — Theresa E. Cokel, 74, of Mendota, died Dec. 29, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Rockford.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3 at Holy Cross Church, Mendota with Rev. Geoffrey Horton officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at the Schwarz Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Bob Cokel II, Al Ankney, Jan Fee, Tim Farmer, Rowland Klinefelter and Justin Ankney.
Mrs. Cokel was born Jan. 27, 1938 in Mendota, to Andrew and Mary (Stenger) Rapp. She married Robert J. Cokel on June 21, 1958 at Holy Cross Church, Mendota.
Survivors include one son, Bob (Patricia) Cokel II of Springfield, Ore.; four daughters, Cheryl (Alan) Ankney of Chana, Mary (Jan) Fee of Rochelle, Rose (Rowland) Klinefelter of Mendota, and Cindy (Tim) Farmer of LaMoille; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Andrew Rapp of Oglesby and Francis (Frances) Rapp of Mendota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 5, 2005; one grandson, Charlie Ankney on May 28, 2008; and two sisters, Joanne Dean and Mary Agnes McPherson.
Mrs. Cokel was a 1956 graduate of Mendota High School. She worked on the label line at Del Monte and was a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Cross Church.
