ROCHELLE —Several local candidates interested in running on the April 9 Consolidated Election ballot filed petitions last week, securing a spot on the ballot. However, the majority of the races will not be contested, and some races don’t even have a full slate at this point.
Local races include village and township boards along with school, park and library districts.
In Rochelle, there are four openings on the Rochelle Township High School board. Filing petitions are current board members Tom Huddleston, Brent Tracy and Bill Ravnaas, along with former school board official Bob Walsh.
Current board member Jeff Stiles is not running for another term.
The Rochelle Elementary School District board also has four open seats. Jean Tess, Shirley Reif and Dave Casey filed petitions to run for another term. Trisha Vaughn also filed a petition.
Current board member Tom Winebaugh is not running for another term.
