LASALLE — After a long two weeks of no meets or tournaments, the Rochelle Township High School varsity wrestling team resumed action again on Thursday, Dec. 27 when it competed in the LaSalle-Peru Quadrangular.
“It was good to get back into wrestling after such a long time off,” Rochelle head coach Rich Harvey said on Friday night. “The kids did a lot of the things we were working on in practice, but you could tell that we had taken some time off. Our conditioning was not where I would like it to be.”
The Hubs faced three teams on Thursday and although they did not pick up any team victories, Rochelle kept all three of its matches close against Streator, LP and Rockford Boylan.
“We are struggling a bit as a team right now because we have to give up a couple weight classes due to injuries,” Harvey explained. “But looking back I would say the kids wrestled better on Thursday than they had all season.
