ROCHELLE — For many households, the family Christmas tree is a fun holiday tradition that is the epitome of Christmas spirit. After the holidays, however, the tree’s purpose has been served and now the question remains of how to dispose of it.
The Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department offers a solution to this lingering question and does so in a resourceful way. Throughout different areas and in Ogle County, locals can drop off their trees so that they can be repurposed into quality mulch for the countywide recycling program.
With the City of Rochelle being no exception, Atwood Park is the site to donate used Christmas trees. The City of Rochelle will also chip trees at the curb during the first two weeks of January. The waste department requires that all decorations be removed from the trees, including ornaments, garland, tinsel and water stand.
