OGLE COUNTY — Ogle County is still without an appointment for the next State’s Attorney. The county board voted down a recommendation by Chairman Kim Gouker on Dec. 18 to appoint M. Thomas Suits of Polo as the next State’s Attorney.
Current State’s Attorney Ben Roe will step down on Jan. 7 when he will be taking a circuit judge appointment in the 15th Judicial Circuit that day. By state law, the appointment of a successor State’s Attorney will only be valid for the remainder of the first two years of the current four year term to which Roe had been recently elected. A special election for Ogle County State’s Attorney, will be held to fill the final two years of the term, at the next General Election to be held Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014.For the complete article see the 12-27-2012 issue.
