Helms bleachers safe, track wearing

ROCHELLE — During last Monday’s regular monthly meeting of the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District, park director Eric Christensen presented an update of several of the park facilities in town.

In November, Christensen said that experts were going to be brought in to inspect the bleachers at the Helms Athletic Complex and give a report on their safety.

“We met with I-Parks officials and they evaluated the bleacher structures on both sides of the football field and determined them both fit and safe to use,” Christensen reported. “There are a few boards that give a little, but they are not a hazard concern at this time.”

Christensen went on to say that the track surface was also inspected and the news isn’t as good.
