DEKALB — The Hubs held on to a short lead the entire first half, but couldn’t hang on to it in the second as Rochelle lost its first game of the Chuck Dayton Holiday Basketball Tournament 65-64 to Sterling Friday night.
After starting the game down 4-0, the Hubs sparked a 14-0 run led by senior Luke Manning, who filled in as the Hubs’ leading scorer and play maker after senior Matt Rosenwinkel sprained his ankle in practice on Tuesday.
“Luke really stepped up his game for us tonight,” Rochelle head coach Tim Thompson said. “I was really encouraged by the way he played.”
