ROCHELLE—They might not be Santa’s elves, but they are close. Needy families have received an “outpouring” of help from several groups in the community, including the Rochelle Fire Department, Rochelle Township High School faculty and students, Hub City Cruisers and Rochelle Foods, just to name a few.

People from the Rochelle area have dropped off gifts and canned food items at the fire station for the past month in order to supply needy families with the food they need and the gifts that their children deserve in the spirit of the holiday season.

The volunteers will deliver these items to families in need on Thursday night and Saturday morning.

“We’ve received a tremendous outpouring from the community,” said one of the organizers, Jean Tess. “Just last night, the RTHS pom squad came over for two hours and organized a huge pile of food into boxes. They do a great job for us every year and we’re grateful for their involvement.”
