ROCHELLE — After almost a year hiatus, Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson and Rochelle Police Chief Eric Higby held a Neighborhood Community Watch program Wednesday night at Rochelle City Hall.
As Olson explained, the group was formed in early 2011 as a way to keep the community informed and aware of various crime and safety issues in Rochelle.
“We had a couple meetings in 2011 and at the time some things were going on,” Olson said. “There were a few shootings and such, we had a couple meetings and things kind of went quiet for a while. I think having these meetings lets the bad guys know that people are watching. The community is our ‘seeing eyes’.”
