ROCHELLE — Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson recently took a trip to Springfield and was surprised by the cost of gas on his way down and back.
The cost of fuel in his own town was the biggest shock as it was as much as 25 cents per gallon more expensive than towns in the area. On Thursday, Nov. 15, a gallon of gas in Rochelle cost $3.59, in Mendota a gallon was $3.34 and gas in Oregon was $3.39 a gallon.
When returning to Rochelle, Olson stopped in Mendota to fill up his gas tank, 20 cents cheaper a gallon than it would have cost him in Rochelle, and he kept a receipt for proof of the cheaper fuel costs.
