ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Township High School boys basketball team jump started its season Friday evening with its traditional Purple/White scrimmage, and although both teams showed many encouraging signs throughout the evening, head varsity coach Tim Thompson said Friday night was not exactly a season preview, but more an opportunity to shake the rust off.

It just gives us a chance to play in front of our family and friends, kind of ease the kids into competition,” Thomspon explained. “We practiced for an hour and a half before the scrimmage so we were pretty leg-weary out there, but we are really going to let loose in the L-P tournament.”
