VCCT performance opens Friday

ROCHELLE — “A Christmas Carol” is Charles Dickens’ classic story of a mean, uncaring person who finds redemption at Christmas.

But the VCCT production, “A Dickens of a Christmas Carol” takes a different look at the somber holiday classic.

The comedy opens Friday, Nov. 9 and continues Nov. 10, 11, 16 and 17.

Bart Pillen plays the unhappy, stingy Scrooge.

Pillen is no stranger to the local stage, appearing in several shows since joining the group in 1987.

“I play Myles Albert Waye, vice president of the theater board. I am subbing for the president, Mabel. I am also the lead character in the play the theater group has decided to produce.”
