PEORIA, Ariz. — Lyola Finnestad, 92, passed away Oct. 26, 2012 at 9534 Bent Tree Drive, Peoria, Ariz.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1920 to Mable and Roy Allen in Polo.
She was a life-long resident of Rochelle and Creston until moving to Arizona in 2007.
Lyola graduated from Rochelle Township High School in June of 1938.
Lyola married Verlis Finnestad from Creston on Aug. 3, 1940 and they made their home in Creston where Verlis worked as manager of Creston Grain Co. until retirement in 1982.
Lyola was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 3878 and a member of Rochelle Community Hospital Auxiliary. She had been employed as Secretary/Bookkeeper at Creston Grain Co. until her retirement in 1982.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Verlis; a sister, Maxine Leszinski from Santee, S.C.; and several brothers-in law and sisters-in-law.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherran (Michael) Dille of Madison, Wis.; a son, Randall (Kelly Elkins) Finnestad of Irving, Texas; three grandchildren, Johnathan (Kristine) Harms, Aaron Finnestad and Justin Levine; two great-grandchildren, Kya and Parker Harms; sisters-in-law, Lois Allen of Rockford and Leota (Ronald) Hansen of Rochelle; and many nieces and nephews.
Her ashes will be buried at a later date in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston.
