Mary Grace Scanlan

SPRINGFIELD — Mary Grace Scanlan, 89, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Oak Terrace Nursing Home in Springfield, following a long illness.

Mary was born on July 9, 1923, in LaSalle, to Thomas and Sophia Boyle. She married Richard Scanlan in Nov. 1942, and they spent their years together in Peru and Aledo, until he passed away in 1991.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Thomas, Patrick and William.

Survivors include her sister, Virginia Roth, of Daphne, Ala.; son, Michael (Lyn) Scanlan, of Rochelle; daughter, Patricia, Scanlan of Beloit, Wis.; three grandchildren, Katherine, Adam and Ryan; and great-granddaughter, Margaret.

A private, family ceremony will be held at the Rock Island Arsenal Military Cemetery where she will be interned with her husband.
