ROCHELLE — On Wednesday, Sept. 12, the Rochelle Police Department responded to Walmart, 311 E. Rt 38, in reference to a retail theft. Upon reviewing the surveillance footage officers saw three subjects, one Hispanic male and two Hispanic females, leave the store with several thousand dollars of merchandise, without paying for said merchandise.
This morning, officers responded to Walmart in reference to a theft in progress. Upon arrival, officers took the three suspects into custody as they attempted to leave the store with several thousand dollars of merchandise, without paying for said merchandise. The suspects from this incident were the same suspects from the incident on Sept. 12.
As a result of these two incidents all three suspects were charged with two counts of Felony Retail Theft, with each count being a Class 3 Felony.
Arrested were Jesus O. Garcia, 33, Diana P. Garcia, 27, and Melisa Lazcano, 20.
All three individuals were subsequently transported to the Ogle County Jail to await a bond hearing.
The investigation revealed that these three suspects were involved in multiple previously unsolved thefts of this type, throughout northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. The suspects now face possible charges in several other jurisdictions.
The suspect vehicle and a large amount of cash was seized as a result of these arrests.
