Second Community Swim Meet will be held on Tuesday
ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Rays swim team will be hosting its second Annual Community Swim Meet on Tuesday, July 20 at Spring Lake Pool.
Event will be held for swimmers of all skill levels and ages with awards being handed out for every participant.
“Our idea last year was to get people out so they can see what exactly happens at a swim meet. We opened it up to the whole community and let the parents join in too so they could share in the fun,” Rays coach Carol Winterton said. “This is pretty much a carbon copy of last year.”
There are seven age divisions for most races, ranging from 10-and-under to 50-and-older.
Along with common races, such as freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke, the meet will feature family relays, Jack & Jill relays and a 150-year relay.
Family relays will be races between teams of relatives, Jack & Jill relays will feature two boys and girls and the 150-year relay is a 10-person relay whose combined age is under 150.
There is a limit of four events per person and a fee of $1 per event. A raffle will also be held with prizes donated from RTHS, RCH, Will’s Chiropractic and Carquest.
Signup sheets are available at Spring Lake Pool and Hickory Grove. Completed forms and fees need to be turned in to Spring Lake by noon on Monday, July 19.
Warm-ups on Tuesday will begin at 5 p.m. with the meet starting thirty minutes later.
