ROCHELLE — Students in Mrs. Downey and Mrs. Tobler's first grade classrooms at Lincoln Elementary School used their imaginations as they wrote their own version of Antoinette Portis' award winning book entitled Not a Box. Not a Box captures the story of an imaginative bunny who took many adventures using a plain cardboard box! The students used cardboard boxes to create and write about bunny flying through space, driving race cars and swimming with great white sharks, just to name a few! They focused on replicating the author's style of writing and story concept. Students enjoyed creating classroom books to be shared in their classroom libraries. This project combined our love of good literature with our aspiring first grade writing skills!
