ROCHELLE — Chris Builta is a fourth generation Boy Scout and with help, encouragement and inspiration from his dad, Steve Builta, he recently obtained the rank of Eagle Scout.

Builta started scouts as a first grader in 2003 as a Tiger Cub and worked his way up the ranks with his father always by his side. Builta is the only member of the initial Tiger Cub group to obtain Eagle Scout status.

Most Eagle Scouts spend at least a month planning and organizing their service project; Builta only had a week and a half to finalize all his plans.

“I had a rare opportunity to put together my service project in a week and a half,” stated Builta. “I didn’t have as much time as I would have hoped but if I didn’t do it right away I would have had to change my project.”
