William Schuessler (center) and St. Patrick Church business manager Sharon Duncan (left) present a copy of the church’s newly printed history book to Rochelle News-Leader publisher John Shank, which will be kept at the newspaper office on display and also used as a reference book. By providing access to the News-Leader’s bound volumes from the past 90 years, Shank and the News-Leader staff helped facilitate the research of over 10,000 Rochelle newspapers by local author Ray Schwartz, who spent 13 years compiling and writing the book. Following years of research and compilation, the history of Rochelle’s St. Patrick Church is now a reality.

Father William Schuessler, of St. Patrick Church, has announced that printed copies of the book, “A History of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rochelle, Illinois, 1856-2012,” are now available to the Parish and the general public at the Parish Center on Kelley Drive.

“This is a limited edition book,” said Father Schuessler. “Only 200 printed copies were ordered and about half already are sold through advance reservations.”
