ROCHELLE –– Ahmad Alsarawi has always dreamed about visiting the United States, after years of begging and annoying his father, the dream has finally become a reality.

Alsarawi is a foreign exchange student staying with Ron and Julie Fowler visiting Rochelle Township High School this year from Hateen, Kuwait. He is the oldest child of three and has a younger brother and sister.

I love my country and want to represent it the best way I can,” Ahmad said.

He is attending high school through the Academic Year in America Foundation. Alsarawi had been asking his dad for three years to become a foreign exchange student. A year and a half ago, his father allowed him to spend the summer in England to study English at the advanced level at the Richard Language College.
