ROCHELLE –– Local businesses are gathering together to revitalize downtown and bring shoppers to a once busy shopping district in Rochelle.
A.L.M. Fine Cabinetry owner and designer Michael Arreguin drives on the overpass multiple times a day and thought the downtown area looked like an industrial zone and not an area where shoppers can frequent. The impression of the area from above inspired him to make a difference and try to bring shoppers to Rochelle while they are passing through town.
To help bring attention to the downtown area Arreguin painted a sign stating, “Shop ‘Rochelle’ Thank you ‘Rochelle Merchants’” on the side of the A.L.M. building.
“I wanted to contribute to the downtown area and make the section of town look better,” stated Arreguin.
The Downtown Rochelle Association, Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, Tourism board, and the city worked together with A.L.M. fine Cabinetry to get the sign displayed.
