ROCHELLE –– After years of discussing the idea, The Cypress House owner Krista Stewart and her employees decided to host a farmer’s market in Rochelle this summer.
“We had attended markets in local communities and wanted a place where everyone can go buy produce and local crafted items in Rochelle,” stated Stewart.
The Cypress House held its first farmers market in July and have hosted one each month since. On Oct. 26 the final market for the season will be held with plans to host them again next summer and fall. Stewart explained they were shocked by the turnout at the outdoor markets and the number of vendors has increased from 10 to 18 as community members spend a Saturday morning supporting local vendors.
The farmers market will be held outside The Cypress House, 718 Tenth Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26.
