ROCHELLE –– Illinois River Energy, located southeast of Rochelle, strives to provide renewable energy and leave a lasting impact on the earth for future generations to come. While working to clean emissions and provide ethanol, IRE also has a focus on community service.

IRE held their fourth annual golf outing on Sept. 9 at the River Heights Golf Course, in DeKalb. Proceeds from the outing were divided between the Rochelle Child Care Center and Village of Progress.

Thanks to generous business partners IRE was able to raise $10,000 to divide between the two local not-for-profit organizations.

General manager Neal Jakel explained IRE hosts the golf outing as a “chance to give back to the community and for IRE employees to meet and talk with business partners and suppliers outside of work.”

In past years the fundraiser has supported organizations in Rochelle and surrounding communities where IRE employees live.

Rochelle IRE employees nominate whom they want the annual golf outing to benefit and chose to support two businesses that have a direct impact on Rochelle and Ogle County this year.
