HILLCREST — The Hillcrest Village Board voted to move forward with the Powers Park project at its monthly board meeting on Wednesday evening. Local park advocate Greg Query presented the board with survey results on the proposal, which included mostly positive responses.
Query said that out of the 450 surveys distributed, 42 were returned. Query noted that being almost a 10 percent return on a survey is favorable. Of those returned, 31 were in favor, seven not in favor, three did not vote, and one voted yes and no.
The most popular items on those surveyed that voted yes were the importance of the walking path and a playground. Hillcrest board member Rich Elliott asked about the liability to the village if a dog park were to be incorporated into the plans.
“Liability actually rests with the dog owner,” says Query. “We are trying to provide a safe environment.”
