DeKALB – Christine Jenkins, 71, of DeKalb, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago.
Born Sept. 12, 1942, in Rochelle, the daughter of Leslie “Bud” and Marie (Paetch) Montgomery, Christine married Robert Jenkins on Feb. 13, 1973, in Sycamore.
Christine was a bookkeeper and owner/operator of Crawford’s Resort in Nestor Falls, Ontario, Canada, with her husband for five years. She was an artist who loved to paint, do needlepoint. Christine loved to cook and fish. She also studied homeopathic medicine and nutrition.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, R. Barnabus (Jennifer) Bickerton of Phoenix, Ariz., R. Brandon (Shannon) Bickerton of Clearwater, Fla., and AnnMarie (David) Wachtel of Ramstein, Germany; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Peggy (Don) Peters of San Diego, Calif., and Marylou Montgomery and Jeannie (Phil) Carlson, both of Rochelle; brother, John Montgomery of Rochelle; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.
