ROCHELLE — After lightning had postponed the Rochelle’s first game of the season Friday night against Chicago Corliss, Rochelle Township High School head football coach Kevin Crandall wasn’t quite sure what to expect when 2 p.m. rolled around on Saturday, but the Hubs came out ready to play and ready to win.

“The atmosphere was a little weird after having to cancel the game last night,” Crandall said Saturday evening after the Hubs’ 58-6 victory. “But I think we started out fine. The kids were pretty focused and I thought we executed well.”

Rochelle put up 522 yards of offens and eight touchdowns against Corliss and held the Trojans to only one score and just over 100 yards the entire game.

Rochelle kicked off to start the game, and after three consecutive Corliss penalties, the visitors were forced to punt. Rochelle started its first drive of the season on the Trojan’s 40-yard line.
