ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Township High School board met for the month of August last Monday evening and reviewed the preliminary school year budget, as composed by Superintendent Jamie Craven and treasurer Kevin Dale.

Craven, who has been working on the budget with Dale since spring, announced to the board that the fiscal year budget is balanced, despite fluctuations in EAV property tax earnings and unpredictable state aid, which ultimately paid up the promised 89 percent at the end of the fiscal year.

“At this time, I’m pleased to report that in all major operating funds, we will be presenting balanced budgets,” said Craven.“Due to the track resurface budgets, which were approved in the 2013 school year but will come out of the 2014 fiscal year funds and the mandatory building inspection, we’ll be posting a roughly $150,000 deficit budget,” he said.
