OREGON ó On Thursday evening, State Representative Tom Demmer (R) visited the Ogle County Courthouse to update citizens on legislation in Illinois and to hear opinions in a town hall meeting.

Approximately 30 people attended to listen to Demmerís summary of concealed carry, pension and state budget issues in Illinois, stemming from his July 9 trip to Springfield. He discussed legislation that has now been enacted into law as of July 1, as well as the newest bills that Governor Pat Quinn has recently signed into law to take place in January 2014.

Local leaders, including county board members and Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson, listened to Demmerís summary and participated by asking questions of their own.

Ogle County board chairman Kim Gouker attended as well.

ďI stay current on state issues. Demmer is our new representative and is directly involved with the state affairs we care about. I wanted to hear what is going on from a direct source,Ē he said.
