ROCHELLE — Prior to his fourth departure to third-world Haiti, Ed Rice, of Rochelle, helped community sponsors bundle pallets of donated food and farm machinery in preparation for the three-week excursion to Three Angels Orphanage.

The vision of this orphanage, which Ed and his wife Ann Rice campaign for on a local front, is to help children in Haiti escape poverty so that they may “experience God’s love, become part of a healthy home and grow into who they are called to be.”

It is a Christ-centered ministry serving orphans and at-risk families that provides children the opportunity to live in a healthy home either in Haiti or abroad. Over the past few years, the orphanage has grown in size and has acquired a three-acre lot medical staff. Since the Jan. 2010 earthquake, more than 11,000 missions have colonized in Haiti to help nourish and educate the people.
