ROCHELLE — After being spoiled with unusually warm winter temperatures, many prefer to stay warm indoors. For those a little more adventurous, however, the option of ice fishing is available at Rochelle’s Lake Sule on Wiscold Drive.
Lake Sule, which is operated by the Flagg-Rochelle Park District, is open for fishing from dusk until dawn. The fish available in the 77-acre reservoir are sunfish, carp, bluegill, rock bass, muskie, pumpkinseed, panfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, warmouth, northern pike, bullhead, crappie, yellow perch and channel catfish.
Eric Christensen, Executive Director of the Flagg-Rochelle Park District, said that despite the range in winter weather temperatures, he has seen a steady flow of people ice fishing.
