CRESTON — Due to lack of a quorum at Tuesday night’s Creston Village Board meeting, the members in attendance did not have authority to vote on any action items. Instead, they discussed current topics and will meet in special session next Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. to approve of further matters.
The time-sensitive issues in need of approval include the 2013 Tax Levy Ordinance, accepting the fiscal year audit, approving the village insurance policy, outlining the 2013 meeting schedule and the treasurer’s report.
Those topics aside, familiar issues, including the property division of the abandoned alleyway, were discussed.
A public hearing was held last month to vacate the alleyway that lies between five residents, some of which want ownership of their share of the property. The residents officially purchased the land from the village at that meeting and paid $535 between the five of them. According to village attorney Dave Tess, this was a third of the estimated price for the strip of land.
