ROCHELLE — Steven M. Pfeiffer, 58, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion, with his family by his side.
He was born Nov. 18, 1954 in Rochelle to Vernon and Helen (Walsh) Pfeiffer. Steve married Katherine Kreissl on July 30, 1977 in Glenview. Steve was a life-long member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
He worked for the First National Bank in Rochelle for 35 years and was currently Senior Vice President and Chief Lending Officer and also a member of the Board of Directors. He was also a passionate farmer throughout his life.
Steve was dedicated to serving the Rochelle community as a member of the Rochelle Elementary School Board for more than 20 years and most recently as a board member of the Rochelle Area Community Foundation.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents.
Steve’s family was the glory of his life which gave him meaning, purpose and joy. He was devoted to being a loving husband, dad and grandpa.
Steve is survived by his wife, Kathy; two daughters, Trisha (John) Vaughn of Rochelle and Laura (Chris) Irk of Chicago; three grandchildren with one to be born in October, Veronica and Alexis Vaughn and Analyce Irk; two brothers, Gerry Pfeiffer of Peoria and Denny (Edy) Pfeiffer of Ashton.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 17, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle with Father William Vallejo officiating. The visitation will be 2:30 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 16 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth Street, Rochelle. Burial will be at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Rochelle.
