LEE — Mavis A. Hilleson, 89, Lee, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at OSF St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford.
Mavis was born December 31, 1920 in Swea City, Iowa, the daughter of Algot and Emma (Thoreson) Swanson.
She attended Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, where she graduated with an associates of arts degree.
She met her future husband, Edmund Hilleson of Lee, while at Waldorf and they were married August 7, 1943 in Hollywood, Fla.
Mavis was an active member of the First Lutheran Church of Lee. Survivors include three sons, Steve (Brenda) Hilleson of Clarion, Iowa, James (Heidi) Hilleson of Muncie, Ind. and John (Michelle) Hilleson of Lee; three daughters, Kristen (Dave) Rossi of Rockford, Anne Hilleson Anderson of Forest City, Iowa and Jeanette ( Cliff) Parker of Edwardsville; a sister-in-law, Helen Olson of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Edmund, on June 4, 2007; and a grandson, Brian Hilleson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday July 31, 2010 at First Lutheran Church in Lee with Rev. Steven Dow officiating. Burial will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, Lee.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday afternoon and evening at Jacobson Funeral Home in Shabbona.
Memorials are being established for the First Lutheran Church in Lee and the Alzheimer’s Association.
