DAVIS JUNCTION — Violet (Reed) Hall is celebrating her 80th birthday on July 21. She was born in Oregon in 1930 to Henry and Olive Reed and graduated from Oregon High School in 1948. Violet married Dick Hall on Dec. 27, 1958 in Oregon.
She worked at the Rochelle Wal Mart for 17 years before retiring. She managed the snack bar when Wal Mart first opened in Rochelle and then moved into the position of cashier when the snack bar closed.
Violet and her husband farmed and lived in the Lindenwood area until approximately 1997.
She is the mother of seven children, Susan Hall, Rick (Rosemary) Hall, Sarah (Randy) Dummer, Sally (Randy) Butler, Roland Hall, Shelia (Jesse) Hoiness and Randy (Vicki) Hall. Violent has 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several more on the way.
Violet’s children are hosting an open house in her honor on Aug. 1 at 10858 East Holcomb Road, Davis Junction, from 2 to 4 p.m. All are invited to attend; the omission of gifts is requested.
