5 – 7 p.m. — Families with children age 10 and younger and kids with special needs are invited to attend the “World’s Safest Trick or Treat” at the Comfort Inn and Suites of Rochelle, 1133 N. Seventh Street, hosted by WRHL. All children must be accompanied by an adult and no strollers or teenagers should be brought in if at all possible. Many area businesses will pass out candy, have a first floor room to decorate and be able to greet the folks as the children pass through in a very safe, fun, friendly environment.
Friday, Oct. 31
2 – 5 p.m. — Downtown Rochelle will host safe trick or treating perfect for the little ones. Look for flyers in participating businesses.
5 – 8 p.m. — The City of Rochelle’s official Halloween Trick-or-Treat hours.
Saturday, Nov. 1
10 - 11:30 a.m. — The Rochelle Women’s Connection is sponsoring its second gathering, “No More Hectic Holidays” at the First Presbyterian Church, 1100 Calvin Road in Rochelle. 3 to 7 p.m. — The Hillcrest Firefighters’ Association will host an open house and chili dinner at the Hillcrest Fire Station, 223 Powers Road, just north of Casey’s. Chili dinner tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 3 to 12. There will be bunker gear races for children.
7 p.m. — VCCT presents Exit 99, a local improv group, for two shows. The 7 p.m. show will be family oriented while the 9 p.m. show will have adult themes. Tickets are $5 at the door and held in the Paddock Room, formerly Independence Hall, at Hickory Grove, 1127 N. Seventh. St., Rochelle.

8 a.m. – 3 p.m. — The Native American Artifacts Show, presented by the Illinois State Archeological Society, will be held at the Stillman Valley High School, 425 S. Pine St., Stillman Valley. Admission is free.

Tuesday, Nov. 4
7 p.m. — “Peace for your Heart” ALANON meeting is held each Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Parish Center, Kelly Drive, Rochelle.

Noon — The Rochelle Woman’s Club will meet for lunch at the Rochelle Country Club. Debbie Van Dyke will present a program entitled, “Portrait of a Victorian Maid.” The Arts/Literature division of the club will meet on Friday, Nov. 21 at the home of Mary Wilkinson at 1 p.m. The program will be constructing a costume jewelry Christmas tree collage.

9 a.m. – 4 p.m. — The 29th annual “Christmas in the Country” arts, crafts and bake sale will be held at the Sandwich High School, Lynn Haskin Grade School and the Sandwich Middle School. There will be 150 crafters representing 85 Illinois towns and the states of Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin. Admission is $2 and benefits the school band programs. Strollers and smoking will not be allowed in any building. Lunch will be available in the high school and middle school and the instant door prize drawing will be held in the middle school.
11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. — The Rochelle Kiwanis Golden K will host its annual all-you-can-eat Chili Day at Hicks Hall in the United Methodist Church, of Rochelle. Advance ticket sales are $6 per person. Ticket prices at the door will be $6.50 and children age 5 and younger eat free.

11:30 a.m. — The Rochelle Chapter of NSDAR will meet at the Rochelle Country Club for a luncheon and the program will be given by Mrs. Gerald Tracy on Irving Berlin and she will be assisted by Mrs. Don Cultra.
Saturday, Nov. 22
9 a.m. – 3 p.m. —The 7th annual Happy Holidays Craft Show & Expo will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church and School gymnasium. Lunch will be served in the cafeteria and the St. Paul Lutheran cheerleaders will once again host a bake sale booth. Non-profit groups are encouraged to sign up for a booth at no charge. 10 a.m. — Calvary Lighthouse Church, 14409 E. Hemstock Road, Rochelle, will host a Farmer’s Thanksgiving Service, with special speaker Sarah Bowling. Bowling teaches the Bible in a fresh and relatable way. Her heart’s desire is to be on the “cutting edge” of whatever God wants to do to reach the next generation.
